Makeup Maestro

Home-grown British talent Daniel Sandler has been a makeup artist and leader in his field for over 20 years. Throughout this time Daniel has developed his knowledge and huge talent for creating stunning looks. One of his fortes is making these looks wearable for ‘real’ women and being able to show and explain just how easy makeup can be.

Daniel’s creativity heralds from his parents - his father was a well-known society hairdresser and his mother an interior designer. As a teenager in the 1980s, Daniel lived for trips down to the Kings’ Road, where he cites the music and trends as his influences, and he was particularly inspired by the likes of David Bowie, Steve Strange, Grace Jones and Vivienne Westwood. Daniel’s first break was working as an assistant at the St Martin’s College of Art fashion degree show, where Galliano showed his first collection, which confirmed his passion for fashion and beauty and made him want be more involved in the industry.

Over the years, Daniel has worked on both sides of the Atlantic and all over Europe on a number of shoots with high profile photographers for top publications and with designers backstage at a number of fashion shows including Tom Ford for Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger and Jenny Packham. More recently Daniel continued to work with celebrities and spends at least one day a month working with customers at his Urban Retreat Makeup Studio.
